Every part of what I do now is a part of my history, I try to always incorporate the experiences I’ve had and the people that inspire me into the brands I’m building, it's what has always reminded me of why I do what I do. it's what makes me want to keep learning and get better, because I’m not only providing products or services – this is my ministry.
Jodecci’s successful endeavors of 2020 made it possible for her to pursue “Melrose Closet” a dream she wrote the first proposal for when approached by a potential investor in early 2016, but never submitted. Realizing that her dream of Melrose Closet had not changed since then, but evolved, Melrose Closet soon became “Hibiscus House” as it was reformatted to include the family of all of the businesses she had created over the years, all under one roof. Hibiscus House was the first of its kind Islandwide, offering not only an array of fashion labels and accessories, but an in-house beauty studio and spa. By 2024 Jodecci had her own line of cosmetics “Souvenir” and Hibiscus House shelved 19 unique perfume fragrance oils, patented by Jodecci herself.
“The journey to Hibiscus House felt destined and on time! i was in what felt like the most creative era of my life. The best part of it was it not feeling forced, not feeling like i was doing these things for the money or to survive. I was a full-time accounting assistant at the time, a job i enjoyed, but i could not compare to the enjoyment i felt behind the scenes at a client’s photoshoot or wedding, nor to coming home to make thoughtful boxes for excited customers or even being in my kitchen cooking up my hair treatment, Aloe Care, which my customers endearingly called “hair crack”, on the stove. amidst all the creativity i realized that i had outgrown my space and needed a place to put it all. It was as if one day God whispered, ” remember the proposal you wrote in 2016.”– and i still had it! Not only did i have it, i now had a potential business partner and all the talent, products and services needed to fill it!
Now only in her late twenties, this trendsetting entrepreneur is referred to by her mother as “Andros Oprah” because of her early career development, bold entrepreneurial steps and start in motivational speaking. She aspires to one day franchise and expand her brands globally.
“I encourage not only aspiring entrepreneurs, but everyone to write out your goals, no matter how far off they may be, or seem. Not forgetting to encourage your children and the generation behind you to do the same. Never limiting yourself, because there was a time when we could only look at the stars, now we can join them in the sky and dance on the moon. be bold! dream big! aim high! If my journey has taught me anything is that we’d miss some things along the way if we could fly. embrace your journey step by step and take your time; you may just learn some important skills or birth new ideas along the way.”
What’s next?
In the future i plan to hopefully expand my knowledge as a cosmetologist and become a beauty influencer for young women girls like the me i used to be. Simply because i was he young woman who couldn’t see her own beauty, but learned to recognize that beauty sunk far beyond what our natural eyes could see. it’s not one texture, one shape, one shade, one contour or even just above the shoulders as some may think; it blooms with confidence and creativity, it evolves, changes and hides in the things we deem unique. it’s everywhere… and that’s what i dont want other young women to take too long to see. it’s not all about beauty, but empowerment to become your best self for the future you cant yet see.
i hope to franchise my brands, if that’s what God has for me. it has been my goal since the inception of my business to plant a hibiscus house in the garden’s different islands and major cays. i plan to further enhance my knowledge and gain certification to teach the skills I have already and as long as i have a mode of communication, I’ll motivationally speak.
